A Grade Report: Mitsy Record First A Grade Win
After being promoted to the Ballarat Basketball’s A Grade Competition this season, Mitsy have recorded their first ever victory over a very strong Celtic Tigers Green team. Having only played one other game at the top level the team were able to overcome the exceptionally talented Celtic side with an all round team effort.
After an even start for both teams Mitsy were able to gain a one point lead at half time. Former Nuggets guard, Chris Boadle, led the way in the first half with eleven 11 points. Ben New also scored 11 points in the first term for Celtic Green.
In the second half the game became very physical and high paced. With the lead changing several times, neither team was able to take charge of the game. Ben New continued his dominance for Celtic scoring 10 points in the second half and finishing the game with 21 points.
However, it was Mitsy’s team chemistry that proved to be the deciding factor as they walked away with a six point victory and their first for the season.
Final score Mitsy 45 defeating Celtic Green 39.

In the women’s A Grade competition, a young Saints White team took on the new Phoenix/Wildcats side. As the game got underway both team were able to keep up with one another on the scoreboard. With both teams working hard at both ends, the scores remained tied at the half time break.
In the second period it was Saints taking charge with Tess Brandenburg leading the way. As time ran out the Phoenix/Wildcats team were unable to keep up, only scoring nine points in the second half. Saints on the other were able to score seventeen second half points and take away the win by eight points.
Final score Saints 38 defeating Phoenix/Wildcats 30.
