Ballarat Basketball to benefit from Council contribution
Ballarat Basketball’s efforts to raise funds to support the development of junior basketball and the Ballarat Basketball Foundation has received a significant boost with a donation from Cr David Vendy from his discretionary funding allowance on behalf of Council
The Foundation, which has been established to assist with the development of junior basketball players from the Ballarat and broader Central Highlands region is a work in progress as we strive to build a self-sustaining base for the future. The Associations goal is to help meet the needs of both our elite athletes and any underprivileged families, who wish their children to be involved in the sport but cannot afford to fund the costs of participation.
In addition to the work of the Foundation the Association is active is supporting players in its junior representative program by subsidizing the cost of participation for families with players who represent the City and the Association in weekly state level competitions.
Cr Vendy has been a long time supporter of Ballarat Basketball who has shown a long term interest in the development of the Association and in the provision of sporting facilities and opportunities for players over many years.
This very generous donation from Cr Vendy will be a real boost to helping meet the needs of junior basketballers in the city.
