Grand Finals keep spectators on edge of their seats

The Minerdome was host to some exciting finals action at the weekend; with many games coming down to the last second to be decided.

In the Under 11 Boys it was Exies Acmy taking on Drummond St White in a nail biting Grand Final. It was the Exies team who stamped their dominance early in the game on both ends of the court, with Max Edwards providing a handy 9 points in the first half. However, Drummond St had an answer in Jordan Johnston who managed 12 first half points.

In the second half Exies where able to create a small ten points lead with only a few minutes to go. But Drummond St was not giving up easily. After a handful of baskets again from Jordan Johnston and Jordan Kellet they were able to get in front by one point with only a minute to go. Exies battled hard but were unable to come up with the basket that they needed to get the win. The final score reading Exies Acmy White 37 � Drummond St White 38.

It was a similar story in the under 12 boys A grade Grand Final between Wildcats and Celtic Tigers. With the score swinging both ways, both teams found it difficult to establish a comfortable lead. With only seconds to go on the clock it was Wildcats who were in front by one point. As the siren sounded Noah Gemmola for Celtic threw a very hopeful long range shot. An almighty roar came over court one as the shot went straight through, putting Celtic one point in front with no time left on the clock. Final score Celtic Tigers 33 � Wildcats 32.�
