D League Miners to take on Frankston
After a week’s break from the basketball scene, the Ballarat D League Miners and Lady Miners will return to the court this Saturday night to take on the Frankston Blues at the Minerdome.
The two teams received a well deserved break over the Queen’s birthday long-weekend after solid starts to their season.
The men now sit third on the ladder after a five game winning streak, putting their season record at 8 wins and 4 losses.
The break could not have come at a better time for the Miners after losing several players to injury two weeks ago. Liam Glascott is expected to return for the Miners while Matt Preston and Cam McCallum are expected to be close to 100 percent fit in the match against Frankston.
However, Josh Wilcher will still be forced to stay on the sidelines as he recovers from a broken foot.
The D League Lady Miners will be looking to get back onto the winners list after losing to Dandenong in the last round.
Their form has improved markedly after the return of their Head Coach Rob Baker from State duties. Sitting one spot out of the top 4, the Miners will look to make their season record, of 5 wins and 7 losses, one better at the Minerdome on Saturday night.
The last time the two teams met Ballarat staged a come from behind win to beat the Blues by 16 points.
Cortney Williamson will be looking to continue her form in this weekend’s match. She is currently averaging 17.4 points and 4.5 assists per game.
The action kicks off at the Minerdome on Saturday night with the ladies match tipping off at 6:00pm and the men’s match at 8:00pm.
