Lady Miners guard Amy Lewis has been selected to represent Australia at the 2009 World University Summer Games.

Lewis is one of four existing South East Australian Basketball League players in the team, which will compete at the Games in Belgrade, Serbia, from July 1 to July 12.

Lewis is in her first year at the University of Ballarat and her first season with the Ballarat Community Health Lady Miners, having been recruited from Townsville Fire in the WNBL.

Fire's coach Peter Buckle, who is formerly from Ballarat, is head coach of the Australia women's team.

Australia is the reigning WUSG gold medallist in the women's competition, having defeated Russia in the final two years ago.
