Rush Double Claire Re-Signings

The Ballarat Rush are pleased to announce that local players Claire Constable and Claire Blower will return to the Ballarat Rush in 2019.

Rush Head Coach Eric Hayes said “I am very excited to have Claire Constable and Claire Blower returning for 2019. I have watched both girls grow as players from juniors to the senior program.”

Constable played in 19 senior Rush games in 2018 averaging 14 minutes with her best performance coming against Diamond Valley where she had 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Constable spoke about her re-signing “I am super excited to be a part of the Ballarat Rush again, I love playing for my home town and my teammates are awesome. The community vibe makes playing for Ballarat such a great experience, and I can’t wait for the new season to get underway.”

Hayes spoke of constable “Claire Constable is a very hard working player that reads the game well and can really get going as a shooter. Last year she got some experience at the SEABL and I think those opportunities will provide some confidence that will boost her in 2019.”

Blower will join Constable after her 2018 senior season was cut short with a compound fracture of her thumb during the game against Launceston. Blower started the Youth season strongly averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds in the first five game before receiving her call up to the senior team which ended badly in just her second game for the season.

Blower said “I am so grateful to Ballarat Basketball for giving me the opportunity to play for my town! I am so excited to hit the floor under some fantastic coaches and continue to work hard alongside my teammates to have a great season on and off the court! The Ballarat Basketball community showed me so much support while I was out with injury last season and I can’t wait to give back!”

Hayes said “Claire Blower was coming along very well last season before her thumb injury which took her out for the season but she has come back from the injury really well. We have been doing some individual work and I am very pleased with her work rate and skill improvement which will continue until the start of the season. It is fantastic to have two local players come up through the junior program to the senior program through hard work and commitment.”

Senior Elite Rush Chair Lynly Doherty said “I’m really excited to see both Claire Blower and Claire Constable return. Claire Constable really impressed and improved last year under Eric and Megan’s guidance. Claire Blower’s commitment and enthusiasm to support the team each week, even when sidelined by injury is exactly the type of dedicated team member we want and I look forward to what they both bring to the court in 2019”

The Ballarat Rush will enjoy a Christmas break and will return to preseason training in January.
