The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of guard Aiden Krause to the Ballarat Miners for the 2025 NBL1 season. Krause, a 6’4″ guard from Mackay, Australia, brings a wealth of experience from both his collegiate career in the United States and his tenure in the NBL1 North.

Krause began his collegiate journey at the University of California, Irvine, where he played during the 2019-2020 season. In 20 games, including six starts, he averaged 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game, leading the team with an 86.4% free throw percentage. He recorded a season-high 15 points and seven rebounds against Life Pacific and secured a season-best ten rebounds against Pacific Union.

Following his time in the U.S., Krause returned to Australia and played for the Mackay Meteors in the NBL1 North conference. His performance contributed to the team’s success, culminating in their participation in the NBL1 National Finals.

Upon joining the Miners, Krause expressed his enthusiasm, saying “I can’t wait to get to Ballarat this season and compete for a championship. I’ve heard great things about the program, fans and the town, and after meeting Luke and knowing a few of the boys already, it was an easy decision for me. I can’t wait to get stuck in and hopefully help the Miners go one step further in 2025!”

Head Coach Luke Brennan shared his thoughts on the Krause’s addition, stating “Aiden is going to be a welcome addition to our squad. He is a highly credentialed junior and proven winner. He is a defensive minded guard who will give us a great presence on defense and a high level of pace on the offensive end!”

Basketball Ballarat CEO, Nev Ivey, added “Signing Aiden aligns with our strategy to bring in players who not only have the talent but also the drive to represent Ballarat. We’re confident that Aiden will be a significant contributor to the Miners’ success in 2025.”

Aiden becomes the 4th signing for our Miners Men’s squad following the re-signing of Nick Stoddart as well as new key recruits in Clancy Bird and import Andrew Robinson with more key signings to come in the coming weeks and months. The Ballarat Miners kick off their season at home against arch-rival Bendigo on March 29th.
