The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of American forward Dayne Prim as an import injury replacement for the remainder of the 2025 NBL1 South season. Prim joins the squad following the season-ending knee injury to fellow import Andrew Robinson.
Prim, a 6’6″ (198 cm) forward from Aurora, Colorado, brings a versatile skill set and a strong basketball pedigree. He recently played for BBC Lausanne in the Swiss SBL, where he averaged 11.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during the 2024–25 season. His shooting efficiency was notable, with a 52.3% field goal percentage, 44.3% from three-point range, and 82.5% from the free-throw line.
Dayne was excited about joining the Miners, saying, “I’m incredibly grateful to the Ballarat Miners for giving me this opportunity. I’m here to work hard, fit in quickly with the group, and help this team win as many games as possible for the remainder of the year. I’ve heard great things about the Ballarat Basketball community and can’t wait to get on the floor and meet everyone.”
Prim’s collegiate career includes time at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi and at Northwestern State University. During his time at Northwestern State, Prim was named Southland Conference Player of the Week in 2023 after posting a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double in a win over Bethune-Cookman. He was also recognized for his academic achievement and community service efforts, reflecting his leadership both on and off the court.
Head Coach Luke Brennan welcomed the signing, stating, “With the unfortunate injury to Andrew, we have been looking for a suitable replacement to compliment the current roster. Dayne will be a great addition to us. He has the ability to play inside and out and will give us some scoring punch. We look forward to welcoming him into the Ballarat community.”
Neville Ivey, CEO of Ballarat Basketball, also spoke on the club’s newest addition, “Dayne’s signing underlines our commitment to maintaining a competitive, resilient squad despite some injury setbacks this season. We’re proud to welcome someone of his calibre, both as a player and a person. He brings international experience and professionalism that will benefit the team and excite our supporters. We look forward to seeing him in action for the Miners.”
Dayne is expected to suit up and make his debut for the Miners this Saturday night at Selkirk Stadium when they take on the Mt Gambier Pioneers in a crucial home fixture.
