Basketball Ballarat wishes to advise its members, sponsors, and the wider Ballarat community that, due to ongoing roof leaks at Selkirk Stadium, all remaining home games for the 2025 NBL1 South season will be relocated to the neighbouring Buxton Minerdome.
This difficult but necessary decision has been made following continued challenges in managing water ingress at Selkirk Stadium. Despite ongoing maintenance efforts, recent weather conditions have again impacted court availability and player safety. After careful consideration of player welfare, competition integrity, and patron experience, the Club has determined that relocating to the Minerdome is the most responsible course of action for the remainder of the season.
Basketball Ballarat CEO, Nev Ivey, said: “While we are naturally disappointed that we cannot host the remainder of the NBL1 season at Selkirk Stadium, the safety of players, officials, and patrons must come first. The Buxton Minerdome is a highly respected basketball venue and will enable us to continue delivering a high-quality game-day experience for our teams and supporters.”
The relocation will affect the final five home games of the 2025 NBL1 South season, as well as any finals that we may host.
Importantly, patrons should be aware that the Buxton Minerdome has a reduced seating capacity compared to Selkirk Stadium. As such:
- Current members will be given priority access to ticketing for all relocated games.
- The broader basketball community and general public are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment, as matches are expected to sell out quickly under the revised capacity.
- Information regarding ticketing arrangements will be communicated to members and released via Basketball Ballarat’s official channels in the coming days.

The Club is working closely with Council and key stakeholders to address the issues at Selkirk Stadium and remains committed to returning to the facility once the required rectification works are complete.
