Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the re-signing of NBL1 Men’s Head Coach Luke Brennan for a further two seasons, extending his tenure through to the end of the 2027 NBL1 South campaign.
Brennan has led the Miners with distinction since taking the helm at the beginning of the 2024 season, guiding the team to back-to-back finals appearances and a Grand Final berth in 2024, marking one of the club’s most successful eras in recent history.
In recognition of his leadership and team performance, Brennan was named a Coach of the Year Finalist in the 2024 NBL1 South Awards, a fitting nod to his tactical acumen, player development, and professionalism both on and off the court.
Ballarat Basketball Chair Nathan Johnstone said the club was delighted to secure Brennan’s services for the next phase of the program, stating, ‘We’re really pleased to have Luke signed on for another two years as Head Coach of the Miners NBL1 Men’s program. Over the past couple of seasons, he’s done a fantastic job in building a leading program and, importantly, helping our players grow both on and off the court. We’re excited about the direction we’re heading and looking forward to what the next couple of seasons bring with Luke at the helm.’
Brennan’s re-signing also comes as he continues to rise in professional ranks, recently re-signing as a member of the coaching staff for the South East Melbourne Phoenix, where he will continue to serve as Assistant Coach in the NBL.
Luke Brennan said he was excited to continue leading the Miners and build on what has already been achieved, saying, “Feel very privileged to be leading the Ballarat Miners for the next 2 seasons. From day 1, this place has felt like home to me, so it was a no-brainer to re-sign. I hope that we can continue to represent the Ballarat community the right way and keep building on the things we have achieved over the last 2 years.”
