Josh Fox Re-Signs NEW

The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Fijian Josh Fox for the 2019 Basketball Victoria Elite League season.

Fox who was the Miners Vice-Captain averaged 32 minutes, 14.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in 2018.

The off season has seen Fox represent Fiji in the FIBA Asia cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers where unfortunately Fiji weren’t able to win a game, however individually Fox was ranked in the top 10 player of the tournament averaging 21.7 points (3rd) 17.3 rebounds (1st) 3.3 assists (9th).

Fox said of the experience “It was fun, but disappointing. We obviously wanted to put on a good showing but we were young and it was Fiji’s first time in the tournament so we didn’t know what to expect.”

Miners Elite Teams Chair Matt Sheehan said “We are extremely excited to have Josh back for the upcoming season.  Josh was such an integral part of our team last year and one of the key drivers for our push deep into the finals so we made it a priority to get Josh back”

Sheehan added “Let alone a being a quality player, Josh was tremendous in our community based programs which he will be highly involved in again on his return.  Josh is an exceptional leader but most importantly is a great person on and off the court so I’m sure the Ballarat community will be more than happy to hear that Josh is returning for another season”.

Miners Head Coach Brendan Joyce said “I am excited to have Josh back at the Miners as he aligns with our team trademarks. He plays hard every night and we want him to be aggressive both defensively and on the offensive end.”

Joyce added “Josh is also great for our community off the court which is another important role we expect from our players for 2019 and beyond.”

Fox added “ I am looking to come and win a championship, I felt last year we let it get away from us, a lot of unfortunate things happened towards the end of the season and we did not live up to what we could have done.”

Fox went on “To win the inaugural Championship for the new league would be special for us and the Ballarat community. The support we receive from the community is the best I have come across and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again.”

Finally Fox added, I am excited to welcome all the new players and Coach Joyce whilst seeing all the returning faces. It is going to be a fun year with lots of new and exciting things coming this season”

Fox will return to Ballarat in February when full Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners training resumes.
