The Ballarat Miners are excited to confirm the re-signing of wing Jake Lloyd for the 2025 Mitsubishi NBL1 South season. Lloyd, known for his tenacity, defensive intensity, and ability to adapt to multiple roles on the court, will continue to be a valuable asset to the team as they push for a strong campaign in the upcoming season.
Entering his third year with the Miners, Lloyd built upon his foundation in 2024, establishing himself as a key contributor off the bench. His defensive versatility, work ethic, and leadership made him an important piece of the team’s structure, often taking on difficult assignments against some of the league’s top perimeter threats. Lloyd’s ability to impact the game beyond the stat sheet, particularly with his on-ball pressure and off-the-ball movement, has made him a crucial element of Coach Brennan’s game plan.
Reflecting on his decision to return, Lloyd said, “I’m extremely excited to build on what we did last year. Coming back was an easy decision with the great coaching staff and playing group we have. The Ballarat Basketball culture and everyone involved is also a massive part of my re-signing.”
Head Coach Luke Brennan spoke highly of Lloyd’s influence on the team, stating, “Lloydy has been a no-brainer for me since day 1. A high-level and versatile player, his ability to solve problems for us is elite. Even better, he’s a great presence in our locker room and the Ballarat community.”
Nev Ivey, CEO of the Ballarat Miners, reinforced the importance of Lloyd’s re-signing, saying,
“Retaining Jake underscores our dedication to building a cohesive and competitive team. His presence both on and off the court contributes significantly to our club’s culture and aspirations.”
Jake becomes the 10th member of our Men’s squad following the re-commitment of Ned Renfree along with fellow returning Miners in Zac, Dunmore, Pete Puondak, Luke Rosendale, Majok Majok, and Nick Stoddart as well as new key recruits in Aiden Krause, Clancy Bird and import Andrew Robinson. The Ballarat Miners kick off their season this Saturday Night at home against arch-rival Bendigo.
