Ella Gordon

The Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the re-signing of forward Ella Gordon for the upcoming 2025 Mitsubishi NBL1 South season. Standing at 6’4″, the 20-year-old Australian talent played an important role and contributed greatly to the success of the team success last year under the guidance of Kennedy Kereama, which ultimately saw her rewarded with a full contract on the roster of the Adelaide Lightning for this WNBL season.

Ella was enthusiastic about coming back to the Miners, stating, “I’m super excited and keen to come back to Ballarat and play for the Miners again. Coming off a WNBL season I know that being back at Ballarat and having Kennedy as my coach will be the best for my future and I’m super grateful for this opportunity. I am also very excited to have the chance to once again to chase a Championship after being so close last year, Go Miners!”

Head Coach Kennedy Kereama was excited to be bringing Ella back, saying, “I’m excited to have Ella back for a second season with the Miners. Ella really started to find great form throughout the NBL1 season and has carried that momentum into a WNBL opportunity in Adelaide. With that experience, I’m eager to see her continue to progress her game and contribute to our success this coming season.”

Neville Ivey, Ballarat Basketball CEO added, “Ella’s re-signing is a testament to our focus on developing and retaining high-level talent. We are confident that she will continue to grow and make substantial contributions to the team’s success in 2025.”

Ella joins Micah Simpson in returning for the upcoming season as well as new recruit Opal Bird with more key signings to come in the coming weeks and months. The Ballarat Miners kick off their season at home against arch-rival Bendigo on March 29th.
