Luke Rosendale

The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the re-signing of guard Luke Rosendale for the 2025 Mitsubishi NBL1 South season. Rosendale made an immediate impact in his first season with the Miners, establishing himself as a key recruit with his defensive intensity, playmaking ability, and leadership on the court. Coming off another season as a Development Player with the South East Melbourne Phoenix under Miners’ Head Coach and Phoenix Assistant Coach Luke Brennan, Rosendale has continued to develop at the highest level.

His experience at the NBL level, combined with his strong performances in 2024, make him a vital piece of the Miners’ plans for the upcoming season. In the 2024 season, Rosendale showcased his versatility, averaging 13.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 40.9%.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Rosendale stated, “I’m super excited to be back at the Miners in 2025. I felt that I had unfinished business after last season and I’m looking forward to starting the process to builds towards another finals appearance with this group.”

Rosendale’s strong defensive game was on full display in 2024, resulting in him being named as a finalist for the NBL1 South Defensive Player of the Year award. His ability to lock down opponents, disrupt passing lanes, and provide high-energy defensive efforts night after night also earned him the Ballarat Miners’ Defensive Player of the Year award for the 2024 season.

Head Coach Luke Brennan shared his excitement about retaining Rosendale, saying, “Stoked to have Rosie back on board for this season. He made his mark on this team last season with solid defensive play, elite shot making ability and a great locker room presence. He has improved since last season and I’m excited to see what he can do this year with us!”

Neville Ivey, Ballarat Basketball CEO added, “Luke’s re-signing is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the Miners program. His leadership and defensive intensity set the standard for our team, and we’re excited to see him continue to elevate his game in 2025. He’s a player who brings passion and energy every time he steps on the court, and we know he will be a key part of our success this season.”

Rosendale becomes the 6th member of our Men’s squad following the re-signings of Majok Majok and Nick Stoddart as well as new key recruits in Aiden Krause, Clancy Bird and import Andrew Robinson with more key signings to come in the coming weeks and months. The Ballarat Miners kick off their season at home against arch-rival Bendigo on March 29th.
