A key player in the Auslec Ballarat Rush’s 2013 finals campaign has recommitted to the Rush for the 2014 SEABL season.
Nya Mason played a vital role for the Rush as they fought from fourth on the ladder to become the South Conference Runners Up, falling by just four points to eventual Champions the Knox Raiders.
Despite immigration delays forcing Mason to arrive late to Ballarat this year, the 25-year-old made an immediate impact and slotted into the team seamlessly, averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and earning SEABL Player of the Week for Round 14.
As well as her 187-centimetre frame and consistently high performance, Mason’s leadership and positive influence were key factors in the club pursuing Mason for a second term.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Nya returning. She is more than just a great player; she’s a great person to have on the team because of the way she supports our younger players and really gets involved in the Ballarat community,” said Club President Nick Grylewicz.
Mason is currently back in her home town of Portland, USA, and will return to Ballarat early in 2014 for preseason Rush training.
