The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners have continued to strengthen its 2019 roster with the signing of Jordan Lingard. Lingard previously playing basketball in USA & before playing with the Colac Kookas in the Country Basketball League (CBL).
Lingard is excited to be part of Basketball Ballarat ahead of the NBL1 League opener on March 30th.
“I am extremely excited to join the Ballarat Basketball organisation. This is a huge opportunity for myself to play and learn under Brendan and get to know everyone within the community.” Lingard said.
Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Head Coach Brendan Joyce was excited to have Lingard on board this year.
“Lingard’s dedication and hard work to basketball is exceptional coming from the western region. He has been working extremely hard to be part of the CBL & NBL1 so he is a perfect role model for aspiring young athletes” Joyce said.
Lingard is an exceptional example of how the pathway from country basketball to NBL1 is a possibility for juniors and aspiring basketballers within the region.
Lingard expressed some advice to athletes in the region around how hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
“Not everyone is blessed with natural talent, but if you are willing to always put in that extra hour or so work into your game, school or life in general, you will be able to go further in what you want to do.” Lingard expressed.
The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners & McDonald’s Ballarat Youth League teams have been putting a lot of hard work in preseason but now with Lingard and other recruits to arriving in the coming weeks it’s exciting to see the list coming together before our opening campaign on the 30th of March.
