The Ballarat Miners Women are pleased to announce the signing of WNBL guard Elissa Brett for the 2026 Mitsubishi NBL1 South season.
Currently rostered with Geelong Venom in the WNBL, Brett will join the Miners and bring elite-level experience and athleticism to Ballarat ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Brett boasts an impressive basketball resume, having spent five years in the United States collegiate system before transitioning into the WNBL. Since returning to Australia, she has continued to establish herself at the WNBL level. In addition to her WNBL experience, Brett enjoyed a highly successful NBL1 North season in 2025 with the Ipswich Force, averaging 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
Women’s Head Coach Brendan Joyce expressed his excitement at welcoming Brett to the Miners program.
“We are thrilled to recruit Elissa,” Joyce said. “She’s a very good athlete with excellent shooting ability and a strong defensive mindset. Elissa will complement the fast-paced offensive style we aim to play. I also value her aggressive nature and versatility, as she can defend positions one through three. I look forward to continuing to help her develop and to go to another level and prepare for the next season of WNBL.
Speaking on joining the Miners, Brett said,
“I’m super excited to join the Ballarat Miners for this upcoming NBL1 season. Brendan is a coach full of knowledge and experience, and I am keen to learn and develop under him”
The Ballarat Miners are excited to make further roster announcements following the Christmas break.
