The GMHBA Ballarat Miners are excited to announce that Nic Pozoglou has signed with the club for the 2018 South East Australian Basketball League season.
Pozoglou who is 21 and from Penrith, NSW is currently a development player with the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL after an impressive Waratah League season with Bankstown where he averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Pozoglou is looking forward to joining the Miners. “I have heard a lot about the program from Kevin White, Eric Cookes and Craig Moller, it has a great history and proven track record of developing players.” Pozoglou added, “I am looking forward to working with my team mates and to work on my game and get better whilst in Ballarat”.
Head Coach Nathan Cooper-Brown said, “Adding Nic to the roster has been a crucial part of our recruiting strategy. Nic is an ultra-athletic and versatile wing, and his skill set will be crucial to our style of play” Cooper-Brown added, “Nic is hungry to excel, and he has all the tools to do it, he is the perfect candidate for our development program, and we know he is ready to do the work, which will translate to success in the SEABL, and importantly personal success for him in the NBL and/or overseas”
Basketball Ballarat Elite Teams chair Simon Walshe said, “Nic is of high character and comes very well recommended for his professionalism and I am sure he will be a fan favourite in no time.” Walshe added, “we see Nic being a fantastic role model in our community getting out and about in the Regional Healthly Living Program, whilst also working on his game.”
Pozoglou will relocate to Ballarat at the completion of his NBL duties in Illawara which is expected to be late Febuary or early March before the season starts on April 6th.
