The Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the return of local talent Laura “LT” Taylor to the Ballarat Miners for the upcoming 2025 NBL1 season. After completing a successful collegiate career at Weber State University in the United States, Taylor brings back invaluable experience and skill to her hometown team.

Standing at 6’0″, Taylor is a versatile guard-forward known for her dynamic play and leadership on the court. Prior to her collegiate journey, Taylor was an integral part of the Ballarat Basketball community. She progressed through the ranks, playing representative level in the Junior VJBL teams and then also for the Youth League side before getting her chance with the NBL1 Women’s team, eventually becoming a regular contributor in the competition with the team.

Laura was pleased about being able to put the Miners Jersey back on again, stating, “I am beyond excited and proud to be a Miner and be back playing in front of my hometown again. I have appreciated the endless support during my college career and now it’s time to be back on home soil. I can’t wait to be a part of this excellent program and help my team get back to finals as I know there is unfinished business. I am very fortunate to have Kennedy as my coach, as he is a very successful and experienced coached that wants nothing but the best for his players, team and program.”

Head Coach Kennedy Kereama was pleased with being able to bring a local player in Laura back, saying, “We are pumped to have LT back at the club. After a great collegiate career at Weber State, LT is an athletic, versatile and dynamic two way player. She can do a bit of everything, but will bring us extra length, rebounding, scoring and defence. I am really looking forward to seeing LT suit up and play with the miners this NBL1 season.”

Neville Ivey, Ballarat Basketball CEO added, “Laura’s return underscores our commitment to nurturing local talent and providing pathways for our athletes. We’re proud to see her come full circle and are confident she’ll be a key player for the Miners in 2025.”

Laura joins a Miners Women’s squad that currently has returning members in Abbey Wehrung, Ella Gordon & Micah Simpson as well as new recruit Opal Bird with more key signings to come in the coming weeks and months. The Ballarat Miners kick off their season at home against arch-rival Bendigo on March 29th.
