Ballarat’s home of basketball has a new name. Partnering with Mars Chocolate Australia, Ballarat Basketball is proud to introduce the MARS® MINERDOME.

Elite Teams Administrator Jimmy Hunt expressed Ballarat Basketball’s excitement about the new partnership.
“We are thrilled to receive such great support from Mars which will benefit the entire Ballarat Basketball community. Mars does excellent things for Ballarat and we’re very proud to be partnering with them,” said Hunt.

“Mars is delighted to become the naming right sponsor of the Mars Minerdome. The Minerdome is an integral part of the Ballarat sporting landscape and a fantastic association for the Mars brand and its active lifestyle heritage” says Matt Graham, Marketing Director Mars Chocolate.

The MARS® MINERDOME is a mecca for basketball and sports tourism in regional Victoria, hosting domestic basketball competitions, national basketball tournaments, community events and programs including Aussie Hoops for 5-8 year olds, holiday camps hosted by Miners and Rush players, DanceSports, and other indoor sports including volleyball and netball.

3,300 weekly competitors play in 56 domestic basketball competitions ranging from social leagues for males, females and mixed, masters (over 35s), to the elite Premier League, 40 weeks per year.

2,700 more people visit the MARS® MINERDOME weekly for viewing domestic competitions, visiting the Minerdome Sports Club bistro, licensed club, and function rooms overlooking the MARS® MINERDOME showcourt, and participating in community programs.

8,800 annual MARS® MINERDOME and WSEC visitors participate in annual state and national basketball tournaments, both junior and senior, and other sports including netball, volleyball, futsal, dance and cheerleading, as well as exhibitions and fairs.

The MARS® MINERDOME hosts its first South East Australian Basketball League game this weekend with the Integra Ballarat Rush and GMHBA Ballarat Miners taking on the Nunawading Spectres from 6pm on Saturday April 5.
