The Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the signing of Australian guard Georgia Woolley for the remainder of the 2025 NBL1 South season. Woolley brings a wealth of experience from her standout collegiate career in the United States and is expected to make an immediate impact on the court.
Originally from Brisbane, Woolley honed began her collegiate career at the University at Buffalo, where she was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year in 2022. Following her freshman season, she transferred to Syracuse University, continuing to showcase her talent in the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
During her time at Syracuse, Woolley consistently delivered strong performances. In the 2023–24 season, she averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 39.2% and an impressive 84.1% from the free-throw line. Her defensive prowess was also evident, recording a season-high six steals against Clemson.
“Joining the Ballarat Miners is an exciting new chapter as I step out of college and into my professional career,” Georgia said. “I’m looking forward to learning from Coach Kennedy Kereama, getting on court and playing in front of the Ballarat community.”
Woolley’s international experience includes being named the MVP of the Basketball Without Borders Asia camp in 2019, highlighting her as one of the top emerging talents in the region.
Georgia joins us after an outstanding NCAA career at a great school in Syracuse, where she led her team in scoring,” said Head Coach Kennedy Kereama. “Her ability to create off the dribble and space the floor will be crucial for us, as well as her defensive versatility and length. We are excited to begin working with her this week and get her on court this weekend vs Bendigo.
“Georgia’s signing is a significant addition to our program,” said Neville Ivey, CEO of Ballarat Basketball. “Her talent and experience will not only enhance our team’s performance but also inspire our community and young athletes. We look forward to seeing her in action for the Miners.”
Woolley is expected to suit up and make her debut for the Miners next week when the team takes on arch rival, Bendigo, away.
