Domestic Competition – Update

Dear Clubs, Members and Stakeholders

The following is an update from Basketball Ballarat regarding the status of our domestic competitions and the commencement of play.

Late last week our communication around the lockdown period and length of period was communicated wrong. As per the State Government lockdown period we are closed for work and play until at least 11.59pm Thursday June 3. This means that under current restrictions there will not be any play on Thursday evening as previously communicated.

As we near the end of this current restriction and lockdown we wait to see what if any rules will alter to allow us to return to play. Basketball Victoria continue to advocate a safe environment for basketball users but as we know with previous lockdowns indoor sport can be one of the last to return to normal. With this being said any information that comes to hand will be passed on as quickly as possible to players, coaches, team staff and officials.

Basketball Victoria don’t receive any early notification of restrictions changing so when the Acting Premier and co deliver the messages it then gets fed to state bodies and filtered down. Basketball Ballarat follow the directions of BV and state government to ensure we are compliant and our members are safe as possible.

As im sure you all are eagerly awaiting, we will wait for further announcements from the Acting Premier and his team most likely on Thursday afternoon before we update on a return to play.
