Ballarat local Sam Short to return home
The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce local Sam Short has re-signed for the 2020 NBL1 South season.
Short played his juniors for the Wildcats & Exies Acmy before going onto represent Australia as a Junior and signing with Melbourne United in the NBL. This upcoming NBL1 South season will be his fifth with the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners.
Short was looking forward to coming home for the winter months and playing for Ballarat.
“I’m very excited to get back home and play in front of my family and friends. The competition is going from strength to strength so it’s good to be involved again.” Short said.
In 2020 we’ll see homes games played at the newly opened Ballarat Sports Events Centre with the team’s first home game on Saturday May 2nd against the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.

“It’s always great to have an NBL player on your roster but having a home grown local NBL player from our region return and know they’ll be able to continue to improve under the guidance of the club is a real credit to everyone involved.” White said.
White was excited to see Short continue to develop and what might be in store for the upcoming season.
“Sam demonstrated what he is capable of in the inaugural NBL1 season and we are really looking forward to seeing him lead on the court this year in what is going to be exciting in the new stadium.” White ended with.

Basketball Ballarat will be hosting a Family Day thanks to Stockland Wendouree for the local Ballarat and Western Region at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre on Sunday March 22nd from 11-1pm with details to come.
