Basketball Ballarat players to represent Victoria Country

Basketball Ballarat will have eight of its best junior players represent Victoria Country at the upcoming Southern Cross Basketball Challenge held at the State Basketball Centre on January 16.

Sophie Grylewicz, Charlotte Todd, Will Hynes, Ethan Fiegart and Brock Noble will compete in the under 14 section whilst Georgia Amoore, Sophie Molan and Jarred Curran are in the under 15 section.

The Southern Cross Challenge which is entering its 4th year of operation is an initiative by Basketball Victoria to see identified 13 and 14 year olds compete against other country and metro teams from around Australia.

All players have gone through a series of training Camps held in Bendigo with the final 20 from each age group being chosen to represent Vic Country.

Basketball Ballarat’s junior elite teams’ manager Glenn White said “it’s pleasing to see so many local players making representative teams. Making teams to represent their state are the rewards from the pathways we have set for them and the level of commitment they show throughout each year.”

The eight Ballarat players are getting their final training sessions in at the MARS® MINERDOME on Thursday before the weekend with GMHBA Miners import Roy Booker who arrived back in Ballarat on Monday.
