Booker to Miss Season Opener

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners have been dealt a major blow in the lead up to the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) season opener against the Bendigo Braves on Friday April 1st with import guard Roy Booker returning to the United States due to a close family member’s death.

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners were informed of the death late last week and supported Booker in returning to the United States to attend the funeral.

Basketball Ballarat CEO Peter Eddy said that “the Club fully supported Roy’s decision to return home at this time to support his mother and other family members and that the family’s needs and Roy’s welfare take precedence over his commitments here to our Miners program”.

Eddy continued “We look forward to Roy’s return next week and I am sure the team will work extremely hard to cover his loss for our first game of the season”.

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners tip off against Bendigo Braves at 8pm following the Ballarat Rush game against Bendigo Lady Braves at 6pm. Tickets for the game can be purchased from the Minerdome between 9am and 5pm this week or on the door on Friday night.
