The Selkirk Ballarat Rush are thrilled to announce the signing of American Olivia Hackmann who will join Joy Burke, Chanise Jenkins, Claire Constable and Claire Blower for the 2019 new Victorian Elite League Season.

Hackmann a Southeast Missouri State University graduate averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds in her final year and the Ballarat Rush will be her first overseas contract.

Hackmann said “I’ve been to Australia before on a holiday with my family, but I don’t know a lot about the country and I’m excited to learn all about it.”

Ballarat Selkirk Rush Head Coach Eric Hayes said “Olivia is a very talented player and a super competitor. She will bring a real competitive spirit to our program on both ends of the court.” Hayes continued “Offensively she is a very good scorer from all over the floor as she has a nice shot and she is also crafty with moves to the ring. On defence she is a hard worker and very good rebounder.”

Hackmann is excited to be joining the Rush “I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new connection with the Ballarat community” Hackmann added “I am hoping to bring energy and leadership to the Ballarat Rush and I can’t wait to arrive and getinto practice and the season.”

Hayes finished with “Olivia will bring a level of fitness to our team that will help us to improve on 2018. Olivia is very easy to talk to so she will fit in quickly with the team and in the community.”

Senior Elite Rush chairperson Lynly Doherty said “with Kristy and Splash not returning for the 2019 Senior Elite season it was important we recruit players that are versatile and lead by example. Olivia displays these qualities and we look forward to seeing her join the likes of Joy (Burke), Chanise (Jenkins) and our returning local players to bring success to the Selkirk Rush this season”.

Hackmann will arrive in Ballarat mid-February before the season tips off on March 30.
