Midland Irrigation Ballarat 3X Cup Announcement

Basketball Ballarat is pleased and excited to announce the hosting of a 3xCup Qualifier, to be held on Saturday, April 20^th at Selkirk Stadium. The event is proudly sponsored by Midland Irrigation and is open to all Domestic/BBA and VJBL representatives, as well as teams & players from other associations to compete in.

Basketball Ballarat’s Competitions Manager, Ben Connell said “With the introduction of 3×3 basketball to Ballarat, this is a fantastic opportunity for local kids to form their own sides and play with friends that they may not normally get the chance to as they are run on the odd age groups compared to the even age groups of the traditional 5 v 5 game.”

Connell added, “With the event leading into the Basketball Victoria state qualifiers, the possibility for Ballarat sides to then go off and play domestic and VJBL sides from other regions and then the further opportunity, should they qualify to the state championships, to take on the best sides from Victoria, shows that the growth of basketball that we have seen in recent years has transcended across all formats of the game and right now the support for 3×3 and its pathways is at an all-time high with it even becoming a part of the Olympics program.”

The winners of the A grade divisions will receive automatic qualification for the next stage which is the Basketball Victoria State Qualifiers in the June/July holidays. There are also potentially some wildcard spots available at Basketball Victoria’s discretion.
