The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of American Marqueze Coleman.
Coleman is from Los Angles and a Nevada graduate who has enjoyed professional contracts in Germany and Portugal. Coleman averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in Portugal.
Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Head Coach Brendan Joyce said “We are excited to have what appears a quality player coming to the Miners this season.” Joyce added “Marqueze had a quality college career with Nevada and another positive is that he also has some international experience playing in Portugal.”
The Miners team is coming together nicely with both Sam Short and Josh Fox returning with Joyce explaining “We will play Marqueze as a combo guard at both the point and also swing him into the 2 spot, he has the ability to score and create.”
Coleman said “I’m looking forward to coming to Ballarat. I can’t wait to get there and get started”.
Coleman added “I think I’ll bring versatility to the group on the offensive and defensive end. I can play multiple positions on the offensive end and can guard multiple positions on the defensive end.
Basketball Ballarat Miners Senior Elite Team Chair Matt Sheehan said “We are thrilled to secure Marqueze he will bring a lot to our club on and off the floor. Sheehan added “His Nevada coaches have given him glowing references as a person which is an important attribute we look for as we want them to fit into our Ballarat community.”
Coleman finished with “I’m excited to get the season started and excited to meet the Ballarat fans”.
The senior elite Miners program including our youth league athletes will begin training next week and Coleman will arrive in Ballarat in Mid-March after the birth of his first child before the season kicks off on March 30.
