This weekend the Ballarat Rush host their rivals the Albury-Wodonga Bandits for two preseason games on Saturday night at the Wendouree Sports & Events Centre and Sunday at the MARS® MINERDOME.

Rush coach Peter Cunningham is excited to get his team on the court.

“We’ve been training hard through summer and adding new players as we go so we’re looking forward to putting a few things into practice with almost our full side against quality competition,” said Cunningham.

“The games also provide an opportunity to get our younger girls some experience which will prove very valuable to them.”

The rivalry began in 2013 when former Bandits Nya Mason and Alex Trezise joined the Rush. Ballarat defeated Albury-Wodonga in both outings for the season by an average margin of 12.5 points.

Trezise has since returned to Albury-Wodonga while Mason turned down an offer from the Bandits to remain in Ballarat.

Ballarat will be near full-strength, missing only Steph Cumming as she prepares to return to Victoria after playing in the WNBL grand final with the Townsville Fire.

The Rush tip off at 7:30pm at the Wendouree Sports & Events Centre on Saturday night and 11:30am on Sunday at the MARS® MINERDOME. Entry for each game is a gold coin donation.
