Ballarat Basketballer in America!

Basketball Ballarat’s Iggy Spiller is embarking on a very big basketball journey in America playing for Missouri Valley College!

How did you get the opportunity to attend Missouri Valley College?

“It was a short recruiting process; my offer came after they saw some footage of my games with Ballarat Youth League Miners and some other games. MVC Coach defiantly caught me by surprised but I knew I had to accept it and embark on the journey once it came in”.

What are you studying?

“I’m majoring in Economics”

How did Basketball Ballarat assist you in your Basketball journey?

“When I moved back to Ballart in 2012, they were the first people to take me in and help me with my dream. Basketball Ballarat has been there literally through every step of the way. Whether it be conversations, workouts with coaches, meetings about life and basketball with Peter Eddy (Ballarat CEO). I’ve made lifelong friendships with people from the club and I wouldn’t be where I am now without those from Basketball Ballarat helping me every step of the way”.

What’s your plans for the future?

“In terms of schooling I want to earn my undergraduate degree in Economics here in America and hopefully return to Melbourne University to complete my graduate studies in socioeconomics. In terms of basketball, I aim to play four seasons here and then continue through Ballarat’s Senior Elite program and hopefully one day wear the Blue and Gold for the Ballarat Miners.
