Ballarat Referee representatives at the Under 16 & 18 Division 3/4 Country Champs

Ballarat Basketball had a big weekend with the Basketball Victoria Under 16 & 18 Division 3/4 2021 Country Championships being held across Ballarat Sports Events Centre and Mars Minerdome over the weekend.

Many teams from across Country Victoria participated in the event, which ran over two massive days across roughly 175 games. Around 60 referees and referee coaches from across Victoria came to Ballarat for the event also.

Ballarat Basketball had 15 official representatives invited to attend the event. Referee Manager Chloe Dunmore was pleased to see so many upcoming local officials attending the event. “These events are a great opportunity for our referees, especially the upcoming juniors to referee a representative level, experience refereeing with people from different associations, and be provided with feedback from a range of qualified referee coaches”.

Three local referees were successfully appointed to medal games:

  • Ty Storer – Under 18 Boys Division 5 Grand Final
  • Fletcher Martin – Under 16 Girls Division 3 Grand Final
  • Josh Jones – Under 16 Division 5 Grand Final

We also had 5 referee coaches successfully obtain their Level 2 Referee Coach accreditation. This will provide a huge boost for our local development program, as it allows for more referee coaches to evaluate and grade referees. Local participants included Mark Farrell, Kelly Jones, Geoff Dunmore, Jordan Bengtson and Chloe Dunmore.

Other local referees who attended the event were Matt Catherall, Tanika Langdon, Isaac Martin, Chelsea Randich, Aaron Spiller, Nick Zampatti, Rebecca Crowther, Sam Ludbrook, Noah Barwick, Lachie Cain-Sultana, Anthony Kynoch and Neil Black (referee coach).
