Cumming Named SEABL Player of the Month

Integra Ballarat Rush star Steph Cumming has been named the SEABL Player of the Month for the month of June.

The announcement comes just a week after the first-year Rush player was awarded Round 13 Player of the Week.

Cumming’s 20.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the month demonstrated the influence she has for the Rush in all capacities. This included a season-high 34 points against Nunawading, where she nearly single-handedly carried them to an overtime victory.

Cumming leads the league in scoring and sits fifth in assists per game and has proven difficult for opposing teams to slow, despite being Ballarat’s clear primary scoring option.

The Rush currently have an 8-9 record and sit just one spot below the finals cut-off, a similar predicament to 2013 when the team went on to become conference runners-up.

Cumming’s award is Ballarat’s second Player of the Month award after Roy Booker won it in May. Ballarat players have now won two of the eight monthly awards available so far this season.

Cumming and the Rush host the Brisbane Lady Spartans this Saturday, July 12, at the MARS® MINERDOME from 6pm before the GMHBA Ballarat Miners take on the Spartans men.
