Hambly-Clark signs with Missouri Valley College

Central Highlands Water Ballarat Rush Youth player Alex Hambly-Clark has signed with Missouri Valley College located in the small town of Marshall.

Hambly-Clark spent the 2019 season in the Big-V Youth League with Ballarat while studying at Federation University Australia.

“Before COVID-19 came around, I was lucky enough to spend the 2019 season with the Ballarat youth league. I was throwing up on what university to go to so I decided to go to Federation University Australia because it offered the course I wanted and I’d be able to play for Ballarat. It was a win win situation.” Hambly-Clark said.

Alex Hambly-Clark [far right] joined with fellow Basketball Ballarat & FedUni Students Chloe Dunmore, Claire Blower and Layla Iglesias at the University Games at the Gold Coast.

Hambly-Clark originated from Gisborne in the Macedon Rangers where she played for the local Gisborne Bulldogs Basketball Club and reflected on her younger days with her friends.

“Due to Gisborne being a small town we didn’t really have many facilities in the beginning. We trained outside at the local high-school and when I went home I played basketball in the streets with my friends, the average recycling bin was our basketball hoop.” Hambly-Clark said.

As Hambly-Clark continued to develop she ended up at Box Hill Senior under a wealth of experienced coaches.

“I’d come from Box hill Senior where I had amazing coaches such as Trevor Burnette and Kevin Goorjian.”

“So having great coaches was an important factor for me, and I knew Basketball Ballarat had amazing coaches from Eric Hayes helping us youth league girls out, to Brendan Joyce running some training sessions, to Kristy Trahair-Merrett and Lidina Constable being great coaches. It was more than I could ever ask for.” Hambly-Clark finished with.

Basketball Ballarat would like to congratulate and wish Alex Hambly-Clark all the best with her new opportunity in with the Vikings.
