Miners Secure First Import

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners are pleased to confirm that they have gained their first import for the 2017 South East Australian Basketball League season with Marvin King-Davis signing on.

Miners Head Coach Eric Hayes said “This is really exciting, we have gone through an extensive recruitment process to ensure we recruit the right players for our program and community and I believe Marvin will be a great fit.”

King-Davis is a human highlight reel. At 23 he graduated from the University of Delaware majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology, while captaining his College team in his Junior and Senior year.

King-Davis final year in College saw him average 15 points and nine rebounds per game as a 201cm forward.

Miners Elite Teams Chair Matt Sheehan said “Our import recruitment for 2017 was thorough with the club considering and interviewing several players over skype to ensure we selected the right player and we feel that Marvin is that player.”

Despite King-Davis being younger than imports the Ballarat Miners have recruited in the past, Sheehan is confident he will fit right in “Marvin was captain of his College team in his Junior and Senior year and we believe that he will slot straight into and complement Coach Hayes’ game plan.”

King-Davis had a successful College career with the University of Delaware where the team finished the regular season runners up in 2013 and made the semi-finals in the 2013 tournament and in 2014 the team went all the way being crowned season champions and tournament winners.

King-Davis spent time with BC Boncourt Red team in Switzerland straight after College and is expected to arrive in Ballarat between late February and early March in preparation for the start of the SEABL season which is expected to start the weekend of March 25.

While King-Davis is the first signing for the GMHBA Ballarat Miners for season 2017 the club will be looking to make further announcements in the coming weeks as they continue to recruit the right players on and off the court.
