The GMHBA Ballarat Miners are pleased to announce the signing of American Fijian Josh Fox for the 2018 South East Australian Basketball League Season.

Fox who is 24, was born in Suva, Fiji before his family moved to the United States making him an unrestricted import due to his FIBA Oceania status who will make an exciting addition alongside Marvin King-Davis and Davon Usher.

Fox upon finishing his College career moved into the British Basketball League with Cheshire Phoenix for the 2016-17 season before joining the Hawkes Bay Hawks in the New Zealand National Basketball League for the 2017 season.

While the Hawks had a disappointing season finishing equal last on the ladder, Fox impressed in all 18 games averaging 12 points, four rebounds and two assists per game playing alongside former Miner Everard Bartlett.

Fox is eager to join the Miners “I am very excited to join such a prestigious club. I have heard nothing but amazing things so I cannot wait to get there and get started.” Fox added “It will be my first time in Ballarat but it looks beautiful from what I have been able to look up. People continue to tell me how great the city and the community are so I know I will fall in love with the city and the people.”

GMHBA Ballarat Miners Head Coach Nathan Cooper-Brown said “Josh is the kind of versatile, highly talented athlete that will give us plenty of options on the floor. His hard-nosed style and passion for the game will fit in well with the group, and help us build on the success of 2017.”

Cooper-Brown continued “I’m looking forward to Josh pairing with Peter in the pick & roll, or Marv in the post, and overall being able to use his skill set to improve the people round him. I can’t wait to get him into town and see him take the floor in a Miners jersey. I know our fans are going to love him.”

Senior Elite Teams Miners Chair Simon Walshe said “this is another great signing for Basketball Ballarat. Josh is a high character athlete that will help drive our positive culture and be a role model in our community.”

Fox will arrive in Ballarat late February and begin training straight away preparing for the season which will start after Easter.
