Miners Sign Former NBL Slam Dunk Champion

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners are proud to announce the signing of hyper athletic New Zealand guard Everard Bartlett.

The 28 year old is coming off a stellar season with the Hawke’s Bay Hawks of the NZNBL leading the team in scoring, 3 point shooting and free throw percentage, with averages of 17.6 ppg 2.7 rpg 3.9 apg and 1.3 spg.

Bartlett lead the Hawks to NZNBL grand final in 2014 and 2007, the team he originally joined in 2005, also winning the Slam Dunk competition during the 2005–06 NBL All-Star weekend.

From 2007 to 2008 Everard enjoyed a highly successful season in Iceland suiting up for the Hottur Egilsstadir basketball team where he posted averages of 28.1 ppg 6.7 rpg 3.6 apg and 2.4 spg.

Bartlett has represented the New Zealand national team since 2011. In 2014 Barltett represented New Zealand at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain where he faced the highly touted Team USA in game lead by NBA superstars Steph Curry, Derrick Rose and James Harden. In the matchup against the eventual champions Everard scored 9 points on 3/6 shooting from 3.

GMHBA Ballarat Miners Head Coach Eric Hayes said “Everard is a quality player with great experience and skill.  He has played in the NBL and Internationally so he will bring a lot of knowledge to our team which will be great for our young players to learn from.  Everard is also a quality person and hard working so he will be a great fit for our team and the wider Ballarat Community”.
