Wildcats take out A Men Division Title

The Wildcats have overpowered Drummo Dragons despite a late rally from Drummo to take the 2015 A Men Championship season grand final held at the Mars Minerdome on Monday night.

Scoring in the opening five minutes was tough with both sides only managing to put together a combined nine points but the dead lock was broken by Dane Sisic putting together back to back baskets late in the first half in combination with a Sam Borner three.

This gave Wildcats a handy half time break buffer of 14 points with scoreboard reading Wildcats 30 to Drummo Dragons 16.

The second half started with both sides going basket for basket and no opportunity for Drummo Dragons to get back any of the Wildcats 14 point half time led.

However a late rally led by the impressive big man Chris Smith with his big shooting offsider in Tyler Constable who were able to limit the Wildcats lead to four points with a minute to play.

Drummo Dragons had the slightest hope at an upset in the final stages of the game. It was not to be with late fouls putting the Wildcats on the free throw line and they made those opportunities count to run out 8 point victors winning 51 to 43.

This capped off their minor premiership credentials with a well-deserved grand final victory with Sam Borner leading all scorers with 23 points and that was enough to clinch him the Peter Eddy Medal as the Most Valuable Player.
