55th Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Tournament

Senior basketball players from across the state will converge on Ballarat this weekend for the 55th running of The Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Basketball Tournament.

2023 will see 74 teams arrive in Ballarat from Friday afternoon before games begin at Selkirk Stadium and the Minerdome on Saturday morning.

62 teams will participate as part of the tournament across nine divisions including men and women while 12 NBL1 or Big V teams will play fully timed practice matches across the weekend.

Basketball Ballarat Tournament Director Joel Anderson said, “Once again we are excited to welcome teams back to Ballarat for The Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Tournament which has seen a growth in the number of teams from 2022.”

Anderson added, “It is great to see many returning teams who have continued to enter across the covid year whilst also welcoming new teams for the first time this year.”

The Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Tournament is estimated to have a significant impact on the local Ballarat business with an estimated 1,500 attendees that will generate $1.27 Million in economic output for Ballarat.
