Bendigo Bank – Family of the Week

Exies Acmy Basketball Club wish to nominate the Antony Family for the Bendigo Bank – Family of the Week Award

Every great club has its volunteers that just go about their business in the background, contribute a significant amount to the day to day functioning with no fuss and are happy to do this with little recognition or fanfare.  But not every club can boast a member like Phil Antony.

From the first day that Phil introduced his son’s Joel and Luke to the game he obviously loves, he was offering assistance. Over the last 5 years, Phil has coached many teams, and lots of our Juniors have had the opportunity to experience his positive and gentle manner.  He has extended his involvement to the girl’s program with Isabella and is passionate regarding the development of every player he meets, always striving for what is best for our juniors and our club.  Phil works hard to continually develop his own coaching and knowledge of the game.  He is always up for a conversation about tactics and drills and is a consistent attendee at any Coaching PD sessions the club offers.

Not only will you never hear Phil say ‘no’ to anything that is asked of him you will never hear a bad or negative word about any of his charges. He is always so sincere, genuine and positive and can even manage a smile after a tense match or find something good in a close grand final defeat.  Phil is always the first to respond with meaningful feedback on his players and detailed reports as to what would be best for their further development.

We are extremely grateful to Phil for his amazing contribution to Exies Acmy BC and the dedication he shows to every team he coaches, including many that do not involve his own children.  Thank you to Leanne, Joel, Luke and Isabella who allow him to share his passion for basketball with us all and make our club all the better for his involvement.  Phil Antony is certainly a worthy recipient of this acknowledgement and an Exies Acmy Club SERVICE AWARD!
