Miners add Henry

June, 23 2017

The GMHBA Ballarat Miners are excited to be adding Leon Henry to the team for the remainder of the 2017 SEABL Season.

Earlier in the week Craig Moller was named in the Australian Boomers World University Games team which will result in him missing a number of games in the back end of the SEABL season. The Miners Elite Teams sub-committee identified that with the absence of Moller a replacement would be required for the remainder of the season to ensure he would qualify for finals.

Henry recently completed the NZNBL season with Wellington Saints who won all 20 games and took home the Championship. Henry averaged 28 minutes a game, 10.7 points, 7.6 rebound and 2.1 assists for the season.

Henry will arrive in Ballarat Saturday morning in preparation to play on Saturday night.

Miners Elite Teams sub-committee chair Simon Walshe said “We have identified the high work load required on players like Craig, Sam Short and Peter Hooley with external NBL commitments and trials, along with some unavailabilities and the inclusion of Leon will help as the team heads for the finals”.

Henry is not replacing any players on the Miners list, only assisting with the work load management off all players. This will ensure all players are at peak physical condition for all games.

Henry stated “I am very much looking forward to coming on board with the GMHBA Ballarat Miners.  I am hoping to join the team seamlessly and play my role for the club”.

The GHMBA Ballarat Miners will take on the Canberra Gunners at the MARS® MINERDOME on Saturday night at 8pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm ahead of the Skoda Ballarat Rush game against the Canberra Capitals Academy.
