2017 Grade 3 and 4 McDonalds Primary School Tournament a huge success

At the end of term two the McDonalds grade 3 and 4 primary school tournament is earmarked as a fantastic way to wrap up the long term. 2017 is no different with 57 teams competing and 17 different schools represented from Ballarat and surrounds.

The day is held at the Minerdome, Badminton Centre and Wendouree Sports and Events Centre to  ensure the competing teams can have a fun filled day of Basketball.

Primary School Competition organiser and GMHBA Miner Sam Short said ” its a fantastic opportunity for all the girls and boys to come and wrap up the busy term. I remember when I attended these days and it was something we looked forward to all term.”

The day runs from 9.30am through till grandfinals at 2.20pm to ensure all schools have enough time to get back for busses and school pickups.

Competitions and Programs Manager Matt Newton said that the only negative on the day is that we have to cap the number of entries due to the court space. “games run for 12 minutes which is lightning quick. It would be great to extend the game time to 18-20 minutes but restraints on court numbers means we cant.”

Each team is offered a minimum of 4 games for the day to make it worth while travelling in and putting on extra support staff for teachers.

Grade 5 and 6 competitions kick off in Term 3 with entries out with the schools currently. If you would like more information on how to get your school into these fantastic programs, please contact Matt Newton at the Mars(R) Minerdome.
