Sherry Glennie signs with Ballarat

The Selkirk Ballarat Rush are thrilled to announce the signing of Sherry Glennie who will join the team for NBL1 2020.

Glennie was looking forward to playing with a fresh playing group in Ballarat is upcoming season.

“I am very excited to be playing for Ballarat this season and meeting my new teammates and seeing what we can achieve during the NBL1 South season.” Glennie said.

Glennie comes across from the Southern Sabres with experience in America where she played for the University of Missouri Saint Louis along with Mineral Area College.

Glennie has set out to achieve plenty under the guidance of Selkirk Ballarat Rush Head Coach Eric Hayes.

“I am looking forward to achieving goals not only as a team but personal goals also. I cannot wait to meet the fans and give them some good basketball to enjoy.” Glennie said.

Ballarat lead the way in dual home game attendances last season and this was something Glennie was excited for.

“I believe Ballarat has one of the best local support networks in this league. I am also looking forward to playing in the new stadium” Glennie ended with.

Selkirk Ballarat Rush Head Coach Eric Hayes was excited to have Glennie join the Selkirk Ballarat Rush for 2020.

“It is great to have Sherry join the Selkirk Ballarat Rush for 2020.  Sherry is a very good player that has a very good basketball history and grounding so she has a very good understanding of the game, her basketball smarts are very good and she has a very nice shot.” Hayes said.

“For the Rush Sherry will fill the 5 spot where she will defend opposing big players and offensively give us a strong presence around the basket.  Sherry can also step away from the basket and knock down the outside shot.” Hayes said.

Hayes praised the character which Glennie will bring to the team.

“Another very important thing is Sherry is a very good person and she will fit in really well with our teams culture and she will bring a competitive spirit which will be great for our program.” Hayes ended with.

Elite Teams Manage Glenn White was looking forward to having Glennie join the team for the upcoming season.

“We are very excited to have Sherry join the Selkirk Ballarat Rush for 2020. She will add quite a lot of experience to our playing roster so we can’t wait to  have her join our program.” Hayes said.

Sherry Glennie will join the Selkirk Ballarat Rush Roster after the recent announcements of, Alicia Froling, Chanise Jenkins, Alisia Jenkins, Kristy Rinaldi, Claire Constable and Taylah Wynne for NBL1 2020.

Basketball Ballarat will be hosting a Family Day thanks to Stockland Wendouree for the local Ballarat and Western Region at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre on Sunday March 22nd from 11-1pm with details to come.
