Miners add Nunn to coaching staff
The former Ballarat Junior Matt Nunn, has officially been appointed as an assistant coach to the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners for the remainder of the year.
Head Coach of the Miners Brendan Joyce said “We are travelling well but must improve in all areas and l believe Matt’s passion and knowledge can help us with that with 8 games to go.”
Joyce spoke to the other assistant coaches and club, and they have fully supported his decision to bring Nunn in for remainder of the year who will be a great help entering the latter part of the season.
The two are no strangers to each other as Nunn has been a championship senior player under Joyce and has just recently assisted Joyce on USA 11 game tour with a combined U18 /U20 team last year.
Nunn has had a decade worth of experience with coaching and is looking to add to it with this strong Miners team.
“Matt is up to date with teaching and coaching the modern style of play that we have.” Joyce said.
In 2018, Nunn coached Sandringham U18s to the VJBL State Championship beating the undefeated Melbourne Tigers.
With Nunn’s recent success in VJBL, he took on the role of assistant coach of the U20s Men Victorian White team which played in the National Championships earlier this year in Canberra.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to coach at my junior club with one of the best coaches in Australia (Joyce).” Nunn said.
“3 time champion with the club, there is a strong bond for Ballarat and would like to make it full circle by winning a championship as a coach.” Nunn added.
